Day 13: Whitman or oliver

Today is Day 13 of #mybuffetyear.  I have always been interested in poetry, which probably dates back to 1st grade when Ms. Wilde submitted my poetry piece to the monthly school newsletter.  As kids, we are so creative.  Kids are doing art, poetry, dancing, playing cops and robbers, or playing with an imaginary friend.

Where does all that creativity and freedom of expression go?  It’s almost like someone smacked us upside the head one day and said “Stop it and grow up.”  Whether it happened physically, verbally, or internally It was a detriment to our well-being to let those creative juices dry up.  So Saturday night, I decided to let that childlike wonder and curiosity revisit for 15 minutes.  Here is the piece of poetry I wrote for my muse:

Fill in the Blank

You are the best ______

Fill in the blank

It looks like you do it with ease

You are the bee's knees

How do you do it

I want to know

Why do you do it

Please don’t go
