rEGISTERED yOGA tEACHER 200 hR

My commitment to a Buffet Year began in March 2023. A Buffet Year is a commitment to try something new every day for as long as possible. It was my way of getting unstuck after feeling like I was in a rut for far too long.

What has been a wildly unexpected and rewarding side effect of my Buffet Year is how it was the catalyst for getting out of my comfort zone and prioritizing wellness. I knew Buffet Year is about saying yes before judgment and conditioned beliefs creep in, which would lead someone to say no, but I didn’t realize how much it would open my eyes to new experiences, like completing Yoga Teacher Training.

Although I'm not a woman and don't have a man bun, in September 2023, I started yoga teacher training (a 200-hour program) to become certified through Yoga Alliance. I was tired of being stiff and tight and lacking mobility. When the body doesn't get touched and doesn't get oxygenated blood it begins to atrophy and decay. Who wants that?

Yoga Is for Every Body

I know it can feel really uncomfortable to start yoga. Two years ago, I was in that place when I went to my first Hot Yoga class with my wife. However, being overly stressed and tight is uncomfortable, too. We get to choose our uncomfortable. For me, I know view it as I can choose to be uncomfortable in spaces that feel more designed for bendy, stretchy former gymnasts, or I can show the way for a yoga that is approachable for even the most stiff former football players who want to prevent disease, body aches and pains, and mobility issues for years to come.

I'm passionate about guiding yoga for beginners at Rising Phoenix in Buffalo, MN. If you like breathwork, you will really enjoy my class. I have been starting my class with Nadi Shodhana, a type of breathwork known as alternate nostril breathing. This is to calm the mind and body and to invite some peace before we set an intention for our practice.

I invite you to join me on the mat on Thursday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Bring your own mat or one will be provided free of charge. As the weather gets nicer, we will move to Buffalo Parkshore Pavilion and enjoy the evening sunshine. If you aren't ready for yoga in a group setting, contact me for a private lesson. All are welcome in my yoga classes.
