Bali Day
I will be 39 in September. I write that to give context because it has been almost 19 years since I have traveled internationally. As my grandma Carolyn would say I was a young whipper snapper when I traveled to Perth, Australia.
If you follow me for any length of time you will come to learn that I sprinkle in songs/lyrics across the genres. This reminds me of the song Back When I Knew It All by Montgomery Gentry.
"Back when the world was flat and Mama and Daddy didn't have a clue
That was back
Back when a pitcher of beer and a couple shots made me bulletproof"
I tell myself traveling as a 20-year-old I felt invincible, but there is a possibility that I don't remember correctly. The past version of me always drank a lot of alcohol on flights.
Perhaps to drown out the anxiety or uncertainty. As a young 20 year old I remember being so excited to hit international water so I could have a Victoria Bitter.
So of course I'm excited for a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to go to Ubud, Bali and it also activates those butterflies in my stomach which can either be chalked up to being excited and/or nervous.
It's one hour and 45 minutes before I have to leave for the airport. The sensation is definitely getting stronger in my stomach- uneasiness and unsettled. I also feel bad, sad, and concerned because my 7-year-old is fighting a virus. So Bree is going to miss Yoga Jam at Azitala in Elk River, which is a bummer for her and the people whose lives could be impacted by the work.
It was super nice to spend extra time with Bree and the boys before and during the transport to the airport. It took 22 minutes going through security on a Saturday and now I’m in the Delta lounge. With the purple American Express card you get in complimentary.
I’m feeling inspired, courageous and grateful. Grateful to be going on such a trip but even more so because I thought I missed the opportunity when I didn’t go when I was in Australia. Also grateful for Bree and Brooks running some errands for me yesterday while I packed and all the Amazon purchases Bree made leading up to the trip.
I also got such a great reminder on my men’s group call on Thursday night to be open and curious on my travels. I was a little overwhelmed with how I was going to be productive as possible on my flight to and from Bali.
As I was coming into the Delta Lounge the Stone Arch started playing Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger which I used to love to listen to at my grandma Carolyn’s house.
I must be in the right place. Thank you universe. Please look after my loved ones while I’m gone.
